Delhi Zones

Delhi is a big city.  Delhi Regions are categorised in four zones. These are South, North, East, West and Central. Each zone is well developed by establishing industries and residents. Few of the famous areas according to the Zones are:

South - Mehrauli, Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar, Safdarjung, South Extension.

North - Civil Lines, Model Town, Pitampura.

East - Patparganj, Shahdara, Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar.

West - Janak Puri, Rohini, Punjabi Bagh.

Central - Pragati Maidan, Chandani Chowk, Connaught Place.

Must visit New Delhi's Hotel Rama Inn.

The capital city of India. It is located in the north-central region of India. The old name of Delhi is Indraprastha. Delhi is also mentioned in Maharabharata epic. The density area of Delhi is nearly about 9,340 square kilometer. Delhi is very populated area as it has also lots of Industries. People migrated to Delhi from different region of India for the jobs. The population of Delhi is presently about 300,000. It is the current status of 2005. The India is running from here. Delhi is also the union territory like Chandigarh. It was converted to Union Territory in the year 1951. Earlier the capital city of India was Calcutta. Delhi was declared as the capital city by the British in the year 1931.

Delhi is well decorated to attract the tourist also. India Gate, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Parliament House, Lotus Temple, Jantar Mantar, Chattarpur Temple, Jama Masjid are some of the attractive places of Delhi.




RED FORT : The Red Fort(lal Qila) is located near thered_fort Old Delhi Railway Station touches the River Yamuna. The circumference of the wall of the Fort is about 2.4 Km. The Red stone used to built it. It took 9 years for completion was completed in 1648. It was built by Shah Jahan. The identical fort is also in Agra. Chandni Chowk, the huge market of Delhi is also located near Red Fort. The Delhi Gate and the Lahori Gate is the two entrance gate to the Fort.


INDIA GATE : India Gate also called All India War Memorial is india_gatelocated on Rajpat near Rashtrapati Bhawan. It was designed by Lutyens. It was completed in year 1931. It was built to commemorate the 90,000 Indian soldiers who killed in first world war and in the Afgan War. The Amar Jawan Jyoti flame continously burning and is located at the centre of the Gate. It is one of the main attraction of Delhi.


LOTUS TEMPLE : The Lotus Temple of Bahai religion is locatedlotus temple in South Delhi. It is located in Kalkaji area near Nehru Place. The kalkaji Temple is just opposite to this Temple. Every religion's person can visit this temple. It is designed like a lotus flower and looking very attractive one. A person can purchase the books on Bahai religion here also.


QUTUB MINAR : Qutub Minar was built in 150 years. After 30 years, 3 storey further added by Iltutamish. Its name is "Qutub Minar' and there are two reason behind it. First, when it was built, Qutubbudin Aibak reigned Delhi. Second, Qutub is the Arabian name means "Central Pillar". It is in south Delhi in Mehrauli area. Firoz Tuglaq repaired it when it was damaged due to earth quake and added one more storey to Qutub Minar.


RASHTRAPATI BHAWAN : It was built by the British andPresident House was completed in 1939. This building was declared as the President's House and office after the independence of India. There are about 4,000 employees working in the President House. This building was designed by Edwin Lutians. Government provides the facilities to the employers like school, post-office, hospital. This building is the combination of the design of European and Indian style. The color of the wall of the House is same as the color of Fatehpur Sikri and the rooms are designed in the European style. The garden is in the front and in the back of the Rashtrapati Bhawan like Humayun Tomb. The garden to the back of House is also called The Mughal garden because it is designed in the same way as the Mughal Emperors gardens.
